2023 Honda Civic Hatchback Release Date, Price, SpecsAs in the past, like last year, the 2023 Honda Civic Hatchback is available in LX, Sport, EX, and Touring trims which are divided into the coupe, sedan, and hatchback body styles. (The hatchback comes with the Sport Touring trim that’s a combination of both.) The Civic Hatchback Si. It is available in a sedan or coupe as well as The Civic Type R is hatchback only.

The sedan is more prevalent among buyers, and we suggest it for those who want to commute. In comparison to the coupe and hatchbacks, the sedan appears more refined in its appearance and has a more comfortable rear. The interiors of all three models are elegant and luxurious and more splendid than its entry price would suggest.

Exterior Design

The design of the sedan is inspired by the Accord as well as other fastback sedans and some luxurious sedans with sleek rooflines. The hatchback and sedan are very similar in their profile. The sedan slants to the back to create a desirable trunk, while the hatch continues. The coupe’s lines are long, which conceal its small size. The 2023 Honda Civic Hatchback looks stunning in Sport trim, with the 18-inch wheel and accents of black.

Testers from independent and federal agencies gave an overall score of Civic Hatchback top marks for safety, with overall five-star scores from the Federal government. The IIHS has awarded the Civic Hatchbacks–all of the body types–top “Good” scores on its crash battery, which includes the driver and passenger sides of small-impact crashes. The standard automated emergency braking system is also assessed as “Superior” at avoiding forward crashes between speeds between 12 and 25 speeds.

One flaw is the headlights on most Civic Hatchbacks; regardless of the body or trim, they are rated “Poor.” But the LED reflector headlights on models with the Touring model and the Si models are graded “Good,” which earns the 2023 Civic Hatchback a Top Safety choice according to the IIHS.

Civic Si trims–coupe and sedan only. They also add different exterior trims and wheels with a sportier look. The only hatchback Civic Type R goes a couple of steps too far with its racier-style looks for boys. We’re looking forward to a more casual-looking Civic Type R for adults.

However, the best part is that you don’t need to see the body kit while driving. Inside it’s a Civic Hatchback takes a comparatively moderate approach, with a big center console, plenty of compartments and pockets for small items, as well as stylish trim parts. The standard 5.0-inch screen appears too tiny, but it’s designed only for the Civic LX trim. Other Civics have a 7.0-inch touchscreen that will fit the dashboard better.

Interior Design

Inside the cabin, its Civic Hatchback is comparatively sedate with lots of compartments for storage, such as cubbies and cupholders. The comprehensive and low-set dashboard isn’t as dull as it was in the past. It’s visually divided by horizontal bands made of glossy black plastic or brushed trim, and the 7.0-inch touchscreen on most versions makes the space more enjoyable. The base models have a 5.0-inch display, which doesn’t perform the same feat.

Rear seat passengers in the sedan have spacious legroom, greater than 37 inches. They also have comfy rear outboard seats that can accommodate adults. We wouldn’t suggest putting three large-shouldered adults back, but it’s possible in the event of a need. (The coupe and hatchback both come with 36 inches of legroom at the back.) The sedan has approximately 15 cubic feet of space within the trunk.

That’s a bit less than in mid-sized sedans and is adequate considering the hatchback’s tiny size. (The coupe has just 12 cubic feet, and the hatchback is the king in terms of volume, with 25.7 cubic feet when the second row is in place and 46.2 when the second row has that is pushed forward.)┬áThe Civic Hatchback’s interior material and high-quality performance push past its low-cost car origins. The majority of the surfaces are of high-quality, featuring low-sheen materials and soft inner materials that are far away from the dull, stark, and often grainy plastics of the Civic Hatchback’s not too distant past.

2023 Honda Civic Hatchback Engine

This year it’s there’s a new Civic Hatchback that stands pat with the option of choosing between inline-4s. The standard engine on LX, Sport, and EX Civic Hatchbacks is a one-hp 158-hp 2.0-liter inline-4, typically connected with a CVT. The manual can be found in 6-speeds for LX and Sport trims, and it’s comfortable to drive. However, it’s not the raciest of vehicles in this instance. Its base motor is suitable for commutes and is best when coupled with a CVT which retains its efficiency around 30 mpg in the combined mode, according to the EPA.

The turbocharged engine found in coupes, sedans, and as standard in all hatchbacks is a 1.5-liter turbo-4 engine producing the equivalent of 174 horsepower (or 180 horsepower in specific variants). Turbo-4 isn’t just more powerful, but it’s also more efficient when driving on the highway. Specific models come with a six-speed manual that is paired with the turbo-4. This helps to reduce certain lags that occur in the driveline when drivers are hit the accelerator.

The CVT is, in fact, the most efficient choice; however, it can also cause some delays. Test before buying. Every Civic Hatchback is gifted with exceptionally smooth and precise handling and steering that makes the small vehicle a pleasure to drive through town and on curvy roads. Turbo-4 models come with fluid-filled rear bushings, which sharpen the handling.
